Costruita tra il 1615 e il 1618 con il contributo di Gio.
Francesco Lomellini e la cooperazione di due possidenti
locali, prima chiesa in Liguria dedicata all'arcivescovo
milanese,
canonizzato pochi anni prima, sorge in val Varenna, nella
frazione San Carlo di Cese. Fu ingrandita intorno alla metà
dell'Ottocento
con l'aggiunta delle
navate
laterali. Nel 1886 la parete del
coro
fu affrescata dal pittore
G.B. Ghigliotti.
Nel 1928 fu realizzata la facciata, prima di allora del
tutto priva di decori. All'interno sono conservate una
pala
raffigurante il
Martirio di San Bartolomeo,
attribuita a
Gioacchino Assereto
(1600-1649), una statua seicentesca della
Madonna del Rosario
ed un
organo
fabbricato nel 1889 dai fratelli Lingiardi di Pavia.
(Da Wikipedia). The Church of San Carlo di Cese is located in the Val Varenna, in the hamlet of San Carlo di Cese, in the municipality of Genoa, Italy. The church was built between 1615 and 1618 with the contribution of Gio. Francesco Lomellini and the cooperation of two local landowners. It was the first church in Liguria dedicated to the Milanese archbishop, who had been canonized a few years earlier.The church was enlarged around the middle of the 19th century with the addition of the lateral naves. In 1886, the choir wall was frescoed by the painter G.B. Ghigliotti.
